Factkeeper.org documents events we believe threaten democratic governance
in 21st century America.
WHAT WE ARE:
- An advocacy archive combining political commitment with research rigor
- A tool for citizens, activists, journalists, and future historians
- A real-time record of who did what, when, with sources
WHAT WE ARE NOT:
- A neutral, comprehensive archive of all political events
- A substitute for traditional news media or academic research
- A legal or historical verdict on individuals
OUR STANDARDS:
- โ Every claim sourced to verifiable documents
- โ Verification by multiple curators before publication
- โ Corrections policy and version control
- โ Counter-arguments included where significant
OUR PERSPECTIVE:
We believe:
- Democratic norms and institutions are worth preserving
- Constitutional processes protect against authoritarianism
- Civil rights and equality are non-negotiable
- Public officials should be held accountable
We acknowledge these are value judgments that not everyone shares.
OUR METHODOLOGY:
We document events that meet explicit criteria related to democratic stability,
derived from political science research. All criteria and their application are
transparent and subject to critique.
We are creating an evidentiary record. History will judge whether our concerns
were justified. Either way, the facts we preserve will be valuable to future
understanding.
